caiĀ·jun
v. caijuned, caijuning, caijuns
1. as a pedestrian, to be struck by a moving vehicle
As someone that is lucky enough to get around the city both on four wheels and on two legs, I make the following comments:
To my fellow drivers, be cautious around crosswalks - check your mirrors, check your blindspots, yield to pedestrians. When a ton of metal meets head-to-head with a few pounds of soft tissue, you are going to come out of the fray in good shape. The pedestrian on the other hand likely will not.
To my fellow pedestrians, let drivers know what your intentions are, calculate your jay-walks carefully, don't assume that a vehicle will always stop for you. Momentum and the limitations of braking systems, tells us that the ton of metal is not able to stop on a dime, so don't assume that they can.
