CSI: Crime Scene Investigation is the most watched television show in the entire world right now. Having been exposed to some of the scientific aspects of forensic science, I have to think that the development of sophisticated instrumentation and analytical techniques gives law enforcement a huge edge in apprehending criminals. However, with potential criminals having such easy access to learning the trade-secrets used to recreate and understand a crime scene, and thereby figuring out how to better cover their tracks, I have to wonder if crime labs are losing their upper hand in exchange for public entertainment.
